HEAT TREATED TO PERFECTION – To ensure strength and flexibility - Customised parts
Kverneland is renowned for using customised heat treatment processes to obtain specific features for each single part. The result is some of the best steel parts available on the market!
MOULDBOARD Our unique heat treatment processes give our mouldboards a glass-like hard surface and a soft and flexible core. This unique combination of strength and flexibility allows for the mouldboard to endure challenging conditions and prevent soil from adhering to the surface, whilst letting the soil slide easily over the mouldboard without sticking. The soft core absorbs shocks and tension to avoid breakage. Our steel guarantees long lasting plough parts with unique benefits. Harder steel reduces wear and friction but is more prone to breakage. Softer steel will not break, but creates friction and wears faster. Manufacturers have to make compromises between soft and hard to achieve a satisfying steel quality. A common solution is to produce thicker parts to com- pensate for softer steel and avoid breakage. The unwanted side effect is that you get thicker, heavier.
During ploughing, steel parts can often increase soil resistance, which leads to higher fuel consumption. At Kverneland we don’t believe in compromising. Instead, we have spent years developing our own heat treatment techniques. Through significant investments and rigorous laboratory and field testing, we are able to mix several heat treatment processes into different zones of a part to provide thinner and stronger parts.
